Programmes Manager & Senior Research Officer

As the Programs Manager at CEMLAWS Africa, Rebecca supports Senior Management in decision-making toward the achievement of strategic goals/project objectives, monitors the progress of projects and initiatives, coordinates cross-project activities, prepares interim reports for project donors, develops and oversees deadlines and budgets, makes input and advises the team’s work, supervises interns and evaluates interns/staff performance.

– As a Senior Research Officer, she leads consultancy on the Bloomberg Philanthropies Vibrant Oceans Initiative’s (VOI) project Enhancing Transparency in Ghana’s Fisheries Sectorcontributes to research on the U.S. Department of State-sponsored DWFV Project Promoting Local Capacity to Address the Destabilizing Impacts of Foreign Fishing Vessels in the Gulf of Guinea and Mauritania, supports the Oceana Inc. West Africa Feasibility Study on Fisheries & Livelihoods/Policy and Climate Change Impact on fisheries and coastal communities, and assists in other maritime governance and policy projects focused on women/gender issues in coastal communities.

– Following her degrees in Oceanography and Fisheries at the UG., her PhD in Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) as a beneficiary of the USAID-UCC Fisheries and Coastal Management Capacity-Building Support Project was focused on the ‘Development of a Decision Support System for Prioritizing the Management of Coastal Lagoons in Ghana’. She worked on aspects of water quality, ecological health (fish and birds), E. coli and coliform bacteria, land-use impacts, sedimentology, drone imagery for watershed delineation, and coastal zone institutional framework analysis.

– She lectures (part-time) at the Regional Maritime University, Accra.
